Autonics VG2 Series is a compact industrial vision sensor available in 0.3MP and 1.2MP color or monochrome models with global shutter technology for distortion-free detection of fast-moving objects. Featuring built-in LED lighting, auto-tuning, up to 64 workgroups, and advanced inspection functions including OCR/OCV, the VG2 Series delivers high-precision inline inspection with minimal setup complexity.
Autonics VG2 Series is a next-generation industrial vision sensor that combines compact hardware, integrated optics, and a comprehensive inspection function set in a single device. Available in 0.3MP (640×480) and 1.2MP (1,280×960) resolution — in both color and monochrome variants — the VG2 Series is engineered for demanding inline inspection applications including automotive, electronics, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, and logistics.
The global shutter method captures all pixel rows simultaneously, eliminating the rolling-shutter distortion common in standard imaging sensors. This makes the VG2 Series especially well-suited for inspecting objects on high-speed conveyors, where even minor motion artifacts can compromise measurement accuracy. The 0.3MP model achieves up to 60 fps while the 1.2MP model delivers up to 45 fps.
Eight built-in LED light sources provide uniform illumination directly from the sensor housing, reducing or eliminating the need for external lighting setups. Users can swap light covers, color filters, and polarizing filter covers to adapt the sensor to different surface materials and reflectance conditions. The auto-tuning function automatically optimizes focus, brightness, and exposure after the detection target is set — streamlining setup and ensuring consistent image quality across changeovers.
The autofocus (liquid lens) function can be configured per workgroup, and the VG2 Series supports up to 64 separate workgroups. This allows fast product-type switching without reinstallation or recalibration — significantly reducing downtime during line changes. Inspection functions span the full range of vision tasks: OCR/OCV (character recognition and verification), shape-based and corner-based alignment, brightness, contrast, area, edge detection, shape comparison, length, angle, diameter, object counting, and for color models — color identification, color area, and color object counting.
Communication is handled via Gigabit Ethernet and RS232 (Modbus RTU), with support for FTP image transfer — enabling full traceability by storing pass/fail images directly to a server. All configuration and monitoring is performed through the free dedicated software atVision, which provides an intuitive graphical UI for parameter setup, inspection monitoring, and image editing without complex programming. The VG2 Series is protected to IP66, IP67, and IP69K standards, ensuring stable operation in environments with dust, water jets, and high-pressure washdowns.
